Portia Lee, M.S., L.Ac. is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist who focuses on women’s health, including obstetrics, infertility, menstrual disorders, and menopause. Portia is also sought for areas such as increasing lactation, mastitis, post-partum depression, labor induction, breech babies, and pregnancy related health conditions such as morning sickness, gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.
Portia has facilitated groups throughout Europe, Asia and the United States for the past fifteen years. She trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine for years through private one on one apprenticeship before receiving her Masters of Science in TCM at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California and a Nationally Certified Diplomat in Acupuncture by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is also the mother of two children who were home-birthed.
Even with careful preparation during pregnancy for childbirth, some women find themselves in shock post-partum, unprepared for the readjustment of internal organs falling back into place, and not even sure if they will ever be able to pee normally again! Post-partum is a crucial time for a women’s well being, and its impact can be felt for years to come. In our culture it is not uncommon to see women out and about just days following delivery. In this workshop discover the importance of rest and recovery during the fourth trimester from a Traditional Chinese Medical perspective. Learn about mother roasting: heat therapy to help restore the internal organs. Discover simple remedies and soups for common post-partum conditions including insufficient lactation, mastitis, and arthritis. Enhancing a new mother’s life during this delicate time makes baby healthy too.
